I know what it’s like to make big career transitions – people thinking you’re crazy for leaving the security and prestige of Medicine for something “fluffy” like coaching, having to re-write my CV for a totally new industry when I moved to executive recruitment and – more recently – to finance.
I know what it’s like trying to return to the workplace after a career break, especially when I wanted to make a fresh start in a new industry, and as a single parent too. Recruiters telling me that they would not be able to present my profile to their clients due to lack of relevant experience, and that I should go it alone.
I know what it’s like to hear “just do networking” and wonder “what exactly does it mean and how can it help with my job search?” For an introverted person like me, the prospect of mingling with people at career fairs and networking events made me shudder and I would invariably leave just after 1 hour as I could literally feel my batteries running flat from excessive social stimulation.
If any of this resonates, let’s talk. I’d love to share with you the tried and tested solutions that I know work.
